This independent analysis by Eastview Environmental illustrates the dramatic cost savings of using bailers versus low flow pumps. The analysis is based on average retail pricing for standard 1.5" X 3' disposable bailers and rental pricing on standard 12VDC pumps. As you can see the cost for sampling 12 wells with bailers is just 22% of the cost of sampling 12 wells with a low flow pump!

Other factors that favor bailer usage include:
- Additional manpower often needed for low flow pumps because of added weight and equipment hauling requirements.
- Water quality meters require constant calibrating and replacement of probes.
- Pumps only last for several sampling events and then require motor replacement which is often an extra charge.
- If your vehicle's battery is used to power the pump it increases the chance of cross contamination from battery, oils, fuels, antifreeze and safety risks.
